Again in 2012, Phacon provided the trophies for the 2012 Leipzig Idea-competition For Entrepreneurs. The mayor of Leipzig, Burkhard Jung, handed over the trophies to the award-winners with the best innovative business ideas. We would like to congratulate all the award-winners and express our best wishes for their future.
PHACON presented a training system for brain surgery which was developed with the department of neurosurgery of the university Leipzig. It enables the surgeons to practice the opening of the cranium. A webcam-based navigation system is applied to determine the instrument’s position within the CT-images in realtime.
The American Society of Neurosurgeons invited PHACON to the conference CNS in Washington. The training systems for spine- as well as for Ear-surgery were applied during a course with 40 participants.
The PHACON surgical training systems were presented during the ENT conference AAO-HNSF in San Francisco.
On September the 16th, we followed a personal invitation from our business advisor, Friedrich von Metzler to attend the celebrations of the tenth anniversary of the Willy-Robert Pitzer Foundation in Bad Nauheim.
Mr. Metzler received the “Pitzer Award” for his lifetime achievement given by this Foundation. The prize is awarded for special civil engagement in the field of culture and education.
In order to the following banquet, we had the possibility for interesting discussions with employees of Metzler in a relaxed atmosphere and could establish new contacts. Thus we used this occasion to express
our gratitude for the received highly valuable support.
During the 15th and 16th of september 2011, the 10th annual conference of the german society of computer and robot assisted surgery (CURAC ) took place in Magdeburg. PHACON presented the training systems for temporal bone surgery, as well as the new and further developed systems for sinus and spine surgery.

On the 28th of June PHACON met in Berlin on the occasion of the German Business award ceremony the business godfather Friedrich von Metzler and Prof. Ludwig Georg Braun to discuss new projects.
On the occasion of the inauguration of Mrs. Prof. Schuecking as new president of the university Leipzig, a sculpture created by PHACON was handed over by Prof Krautheim, president of the University of Applied Science Zwickau.
