The PHACON GmbH is nominated as one of three startup companies for the German Business Founder Award 2010.
A main focus of PHACON is the development and production of surgical simulation systems for education and training of surgeons.
PHACON systems are worldwide unique and applied for patents.
They allow surgeons to train surgical interventions (e.g. the ablation of bone tissue in temporal bone surgery) under
realistic conditions.
Due to the application of real surgical instruments during the simulation, the surgeon has realistic haptic experiences.
The system detects detects injuries of critical structure (nerves, vessels etc.) and gives a signal to the surgeon.
PHACON processes visual medical data (CT, MRT, 3D-US, segmented data) to create individual patient-specific 3D-models. These models provide surgeons and patients with a possibility to gain information on complex surgical interventions beforehand.
